I have these three bits. I suspect they may relate to a drawbar attachment?
They came with my '66 CJ-5, but since I've got a rear fuel tank added I know I've lost some mounting holes.
The U-shaped bit is 30" wide on the outside and it's all 1/4" thick steel.

 

Ya need to put a basset hound on the ground right there to compare sizes with. Or a hundred dollar bill or something. How heavy are those things? Are they the same gauge as your frame?

So each strap has a slight arched relief cut into it. Figure out where and why that would be needed.

 

The two straps with the relief in them are diagonal braces for the drawbar. They will not work with a rear tank. The U-shaped piece I do not recognize.

 

I would guess the U-shaped piece is a reinforcing plate that goes inside the rear cross member and frame. This would strengthen the pintle hook's connection to the rear of the frame. It's the right shape and bolt holes in the right places - measure the frame and compare.

 

Not saying it couldn't be, but it doesn't seem to me that it would add much strength given it's flat shape, dimensions, and orientation.

 

I know the "heavy duty" draw bar from the intermediate years has a reinforcing plate that goes inside the rear cross member to reinforce the top two pintle bolts. You could not install a plate like the U-shaped one in those years because the tank is in the way. Pretty sure the intermediate design is just a flat plate that goes inside the rear cross member. I'll have to check my book later.

An early parts book should show this piece in the special equipment section, if it is indeed what I'm guessing it is.

 

And did certain years have stronger diagonal supports? All the ones I've seen have been sheetmetal bent into a slight C; nowhere near 1/4" thick.

 

Are there holes in the sides of the U-shaped piece? Ones that would allow the other pieces to bolt fast at the minor bends to create angled support? Just wondering if it's a guard of some sort that bolted to the front or rear of the jeep. Maybe to protect a PTO or something.

Are you positive this is part of a jeep?

 

There is an external drawbar support that bolts to the outside of the frame, for the Jeeps with rear gas tanks. The bottom piece in the picture kinda looks like that, but too long from my memory. These pieces were 1/4"-ish thick.

 

It's as Tim describes it for intermediate models.

The U shaped piece is not shown in any of the diagrams. Home made ?

 

There are two sets of diagonal braces in the rear of an early CJ5 with a draw bar and no rear tank. One set is part of the frame. It is lighter metal in a C shape and goes from the crossmember under the bed to the pintle hook area. The other set goes from near the crossmember under the bed to the underside of the draw bar. These were welded to the draw bar on earlier Jeeps and bolted on later ones, like my 67 and 69. The ones you have shown are the bolt on type. The rear tank draw bar uses two smaller supports that bolt to the draw bar and the outside of the frame.

I have both types of drawbar at home (for rear and underseat tanks) that I can take pictures and measurements of in a few days.

 

Correct. Which is why I didn't ID these right away.

And I can verify they really do make a difference… having mangled the drawbar on my first jeep pulling boulders.

 

The U-shaped bit is a couple inches too wide to go inside the frame. It's also a bit too wide to go outside the frame, although with the corner bracing it's close....

SOLVED! I went out to the Jeep and looked around, I found a set of matching holes.
It mounts to the frame and goes up and over the winch. Anybody know if this was ever part of a winch kit or if it's just something someone cobbled up?

 

A buddy of mine picked up a 225 off of Craigslist. The numbers match for a jeep v-6.

Does anyone know why it would have this, what looks to be a pivot point for a clutch?

It just occurred to me while typing this... is this a pivot point for the column shift? I've never seen a V6 with an intact column shift, so I wouldn't know...

 

Could it be from a commando setup . i see a rear dump manifold .

In this '68 225, there is no knob but there is a casting with a hole where the knob might go. I don't think the hole was threaded. The casting is visible on the left, just above the pin for the clutch housing.

The nice glossy valve cover was painted when the sun was up. The other, the sun had just set. What the heck is this????
Humidity I recon....Will repaint when the sun is high in the sky tomorrow.
