So I ended up with a 70 cj5 225 dauntless. Po put a regular fire hei in it. Up to speed I put odd pick-up and cap and lobbed 3 lobes off the reluctor. Back together and runn better than b4 but now 5 and 6 cylinders aren't fireing . Any thoughts would help

Might do a search as has been covered a lot. I seem to recall some have had to move the "notch" the distributor cap fits in to "clock" the cap correctly when using an even fire distributor body on an oddfire engine.

Ive searched and searched but cant find any good threads. I might have cut the wrong 3 reluctors

You must leave the reluctor point that lines up with the rotor tip.

Yep. I went through the same ordeal a couple years ago. Bought an HEI off of ebay for cheap. the guy said he had rebuilt an oddfire HEI, but found out after a lot of cussing and studying it at the kitchen table it was an evenfire body. Had to reclock the cap as stated above.

[IMG]Added a picture, you can see where the notch on the distributor body is. I had to notch it in order to get the proper alignment between the rotor and the cap when it was at TDC.

Ive made my even fire into an odd. And Im pretty sure I kept the notches that line up . I referenced the pic of the odd fire reluctor from that same site in the link actually lol but guess I need to reclock it as well

Hmm. I don't think you need to re-clock. With 3 reluctor arms and the odd-fire pickup, the distributor will fire at 45-75-45-75-45-75 continuously. There are only 3 locations that the distributor can be located, so that the crank angles match the firing angles. If you put the distributor in the block in the correct phase, you can then put the cap on and choose the order of plug wires so that you are pointing at #1 at TDC, and so that the spark and crank are in phase.
