I bought a CJ5 SO I CAN TOW IT BEHIND MY M35A2 pic shown as well at bottom . it runs its a 6cylinder

but i cant figure what engine I have , cause i need a new exhaust manifold it busted at the pipe.

I was given two sets of everything full set of lockers and full set of limited slip diffs and shocks , all thees parts i can add but not sure what to add do want full lockers ? or limited slip .

I have land rover rock crawler and deuce so now i added a old jeep as I loved the tiny design of them .

if this site lets me post ill post some pics so you can maybe determine what i have for carb and exhaust manifold. thank you all for any help i can get
I know its 3 speed as well

Has anyone been able to identify the engine ? I cant find a new exhaust manifold without knowing. thanks

Looks like a Buick 231 V6 to me. Jeep may, originally, have had a Buick 225 V6. Very similar engines, the 231 being newer. Can you see if there is/was an EGR behind the carb? Looks like the small, metric oil filter and a stamped steel thermostat housing which indicates 231, to me. Though, I don't see an HEI distributor. Valve covers don't look right to me either but, I could be wrong.

I think Wheelie is right, 231. Points distributor indicates an oddfire 231 or one from a marine application as a 225 points distributor can be used in an oddfire 231 (mfg up to early '77). I'd suggest getting the numbers off the bellhousing flange off the back of the block and looking them up to I'd what you have. The valve covers and angle if the oil filter adapter indicate 231. If the pcv valve is in the back of the intake manifold that us another indicator if a 231.

Is the manifold in the picture off the driver's side? It looks like a 225 manifold. I agree the engine looks like a 231.

Could be that someone removed the EGR and blocked it off with a plate. That lifting "ring" at the front looks just like the one my OF 231 had, as does the shade of blue paint.

The intake and valve covers are 231. Pcv in the intake, blocked off egr, etc. look up the block casting numbers on the bellhousing flange. That will narrow it down.

1975 and early '76 block casting number is 1249432. Those valve covers don't look like mine though.

Exhaust ports on the 225 and early, OF 231 are the same so, manifolds will interchange. Block casting number in located on a flat spot just behind the intake and in front of the top of the bell, as noted earlier. Unless it's an even fire 231, any manifolds or headers for a 225 will work. There are issues with the stock exhaust manifolds on the driver side if the JEEP has Saginaw steering. If the factory steering set up remains, you would have no issues.

The correct stock carb for a Buick 225 v-6 is a 7026082 with a manual choke. It IS a 2G 2 BARRELL 295 CFM gm carb. It is a "small mouth." If there is a1/2 to 3/4 inch aluminum spacer adaptor between the carb and the manifold, then it is a Buick 225 v-6

If there is NO adaptor plate between the 2 barrel HOLLEY 350 cfm carb, like in the photo, then you own an odd fire 231.
The 231 engine was filled with 6 350 pistons. The carb was a 2GC 2 barrel truck carb and are still available in the aftermarket. That carb is a "large mouth."
