Clutch Question

    Yesterday on my way home I came accross some water accross the road. Not very deep but enough to hit it and throw water everywhere....was fun. I went home and parked it. This morning I went out to start it the clutch was stuck engaged. Finally I started it in gear and the clutch freed up and now works fine. Outside temp this A.M. is 60* wasn't anything frozen....What happened? Is my throwout bearing going bad? :?

    First guess I would say yes but normaly they are noisey and get worst and worst till they break all the way. So Im not sure , I would take a peak in the inspection door before I done anything, I could see my throw out bearing didnt look right on my jeep when i looked in mine.

    The disc probably stuck to the pressure plate or flywheel. Real common when a vehicle sits for a long time or the disc gets wet. The Fibers get wet and soften up slightly allowing the friction material to stick to the flywheel and pressure plate friction surfaces. Kind of like how wet newspaper will stick to everything ;) . Rust from sitting will do the same thing. Next time you go through water you may want to drive it around for a bit to make sure it is thoroughly dry before parking it. That'll keep it from happening. Also make sure you have an inspection cover on there and the dust boot where the release arm comes out of the bellhousing is in good condition. This will help eliminate getting contaminants up in there. Nickmil.
