Spring recommendations

    I am planning on replacing the springs on my '68. I've checked around and there is a major price variation. I realize that you get what you pay for, so am looking for some opinions on what you are using. I want to go with a 2 1/2" lift.:v6:

    Most seem to like BDS. Have you tried the search function? Been discussed a lot. It not sure what survived the migration. Worth a look anyway.

    I have the BDS springs (but not their shocks) on my CJ-6, and am happy with it. Pay attention to the compressed length on the BDS shocks. They expect you to lower the bump stops to prevent bottoming at full collapse. You get more ride height but no more travel, if you lower the bump stops. The best approach is to raise the top shock mount above the frame and use a longer shock ... but that requires welding.

    I'm very happy with the Skyjacker Softrides. Much, much better than the stock springs I took off. BDS has a great reputation.

    If I was to get new springs I would probably go with the Holbrook Longleaf setup.

    I have all 3 mentioned on different rigs. If I were to rank them, the Holbrooks would be 1st. The Softrides seem to be real good, and the BDS seems to be better for a heavier rig as they are stiffer than the softrides.

    I see you're in Pine Ridge, Ark. Skyjacker is in West Monroe, La. I'm not sure what shipping is, but I went to their shop and bought a full set of 2.5" soft ride springs, new U-bolts, new bushings, and four new shocks for around $525. I'm really pleased with them. JMHO

    +1 on the BDS 2.5in lift. I have had mine for 3 years now and love them. They take a little while to break in. the only issue i had with them was the U-bolts that they supplied were the wronge size.

    Checked into BDS, ended up getting a set of soft rides from auto parts warehouse at the same price as picking them up at Skyjacker plus free shipping!
    Installed today, and they ride much better!!!!

    I've got the BDS springs and BDS oil filled shocks, as well as some bigger shackles. Fit used 33x12.5's on it and some 1.5" wheel spacers from ebay on it. Articulation is great, and it rides as well as it did with the stock springs. I'm sure there area a few really nice lifts out there, this has got to be one of them.
