Hi guys/gals My wife and I have a 64 cj3b that belonged to her father who passeed away a couple years ago. We are trying to get it in running order. The first problem we have is when we start it up. You need to pour a little gas in the carb. Then it's tough to keep running as soon as you touch the pedal it wants to die. If you feather the pedal it starts to come to life. Any ideas where to start looking?
    Thanks in advance

    nickmil In mothballs.

Sounds like the accelerator pump in the carburetor. I'd say a carb rebuild is in order from the description. Also make sure the fuel pump is working good and the fuel is fresh and not dirty. Also check fuel filter for being plugged.

    like Nick said
you may have to disassemble and clean out the carb and the tank.
