Hello all, I have the stock leaf springs on my 1970 cj5, I want to gain about another 2" of lift. Does anyone know if i might get the additional 2" just by changing out my springs with " replacement " springs or do i need to get new springs with more of an arc to get the 2" in am looking for.

from everything I've read here over the years you'll gain several inches with new stock springs. You might try searching here using "stock springs" or "lift springs" or the such , I'm sure you'll find lots of useful reading

You will need 4 new springs and most likely shocks too. Most lift kits for Early CJ's come with 4 springs and shocks, U-bolts and nuts frequently.
Typical sizes for lifts for these Jeeps is 2 1/2", 3", and 4" over stock. Stock replacement springs are just that, give you the original stock height.

and your original springs are most likely flattened out from age and use hence new stock springs usually give you several inches of lift

When I put on the 0~1" lift Rancho springs, they easily gave me 3 to 4 inches of lift because the old springs were so worn.....

And you need to watch your brakelines too.

Guys, thanks for your feedback. i kind of figured i would get some kind of additional lift just because as you were saying Jim, that there will be sag in the existing springs. Does anyone know if replacement spring are available in different spring loads IE. soft, medium, or stiff. the reason i ask is because i have double shocks at each wheel and i am worried if the replacement springs are stiff plus the double shock it will be a very rough ride. I understand i have the option of only going with one shock at each wheel instead of two which will be no problem in the rear but in the front the finder wells are custom made and designed to accept two shock and if i only install one in the front it will not look right.

Try a dummy for the second one. ( gutted, not a working shock), it will retain the look you are wanting to keep.
