Has anyone had success with install of a dual MC on early flattie? I ve tried Herm the overdrive MC mounting kit but seems I will have conflict w stock exhaust form 231 chevy V-6. anyone install similar with aftermarkt headers or?:v6:

Most after market headers run outside the frame rail - the MC should be inside the frame rail and would not cause an issue.

Looks like most aftermarket headers even block huggers from Sanderson and Novak will conflict w steering linkage (Saginaw kit) sooooo looking to go back to original stock single clynder. It worked fine for years, I was only changing due to apparent safety of having two cyls, one for frnt and one for rear.

Has anyone had an emergency failure to the original style singl cyl Master Cylinder:(?

I had one many years ago but it wasn't a mc failure. I had a front brake hose that in turns was rubbing on the inside of the tire I wasn't aware of. Over time it rubbed it to a point it burst. It was a very scary feeling when the pedal went to the floor.... Had I had a working parking brake at the time things may not have been so scary. You can always go to firewall mounted brake pedal and mc. Less issues, although less room in engine compartment. I've never been a fan of the under floor master cylinder. Too susceptible to water, mud, silt, etc. getting in there and causing problems and too hard to access for topping off, bleeding, etc.

Not sure what your seeing, I run a Saginaw with AA Headers and had an under floor MC until last winter. No problem - I went to a FW mount setup as I was doing swinging pedals for a Hydro clutch in my SM465 swap.

Thanks, but still not going to fit. See pics.
But I am interested in hearing about your swing peddle assmbly. I have seen hydraulic clutch for my Chevy Bell housing through Novak Industries. Not sure I want to go that far w conversion, yet....

I have m38, 231 buick. I added dual mc. In your pictures your mc is mounted a lot closed to front than any other I have seen. It looks like you moved it forward quit a bit. I can see where you would have a problem with clearence.

Ya I had to move MC forward, but it is located as far back as possible and still provide clearance for clutch fork--fighting room for too many upgrades:(

What about a forward facing drivers side manifold from an oddfire 225?

edit I suppose that won't work with the Saginaw.

Looks like you could pull a me and recess mount it into the frame a little bit to give you that clearance, you'll have to cut the gusset to get the cap off, and bend the push rod if you recess it like I did...

And again, a swinging pedal firewall mounted mc would solve all these problems.

Sorry - have been tied up with work. I will see about getting you some pics of my setup this weekend (or maybe tomorrow) and put them on my site with a link to them.

Any pictures of your setup? Did you need to reinforce your frame at that area that you cut out the gusset? Figure adding some plate along the outside of frame for 8 to 10 inches could replace the material being lostg to recess the MC into the frame.
