So looking at the link, what's the difference between EP536-3 and EP536-2? and which is "correct"?

I looked everywhere to see if this ep paint was metallic and no joy. The original 225 Dauntless color is metallic. I painted my engine about 3 years ago with a near perfect match using Hampsted (not hampstead) Green Metallic 8800906 Dupli-Color and it still looks very good. Amazon has it and it's listed as BHA0906. Honda used this color also.

I just added a comment to the JWMcKenzie link above. It shows a Dauntless painted a metallic blue/green as used by AMC in the early '70s, with a Dauntless decal'ed valve cover in the correct Dauntless non-metallic turquoise color.
I have had several Dauntless-powered Commandos back in the mid-70s when they weren't but about 7 years old and quite original. None had metallic engine paint, and all were the same color as the valve cover shown in the link.
I recently purchased a 1961 Buick 198 V6 bellhousing that is the same, maybe slightly darker, as shown on the valve cover linked above, so it appears Kaiser used the Buick color through Jeep's production of the V6.

FYI - Dulpicolor makes a "hammered" paint called "Verde Green hammered" that is an EXACT match, except "hammered." I'm using it on the bellhousing, and trans and TC, and the CARS, Inc. EP 536S on the engine.

The picture of one of our JCCA member's Dauntless in a '71 Hurst Jeepster is PHENOMINAL. EP536S from Cars, Inc: (2 cans)

Beeser, Thanks for taking the time to get the exact match of the Buick Green....I called TCP Global and after a long search they finally found this code under Jeep. I told them it was always referred to as Buick Green. I thought I'd post that info for anyone else wanting to purchase this item from TCP....Also, they told me they only have this in acrylic enamel. I guess this would work in high heat applications? Just wanted to get your thoughts?

This may have been mentioned somewhere in this thread previously....but TA Performance sells Buick Green engine paint as well. I used it on my rebuild, and it is extremely close, if not identical to the original color:

Here's a video I made of my rebuilt engine that shows the paint color pretty well:

How on earth did you get your engine to run so smoothly??!!

Yes is it idling fast because the engine was cold, and I had the choke pulled out, so the fast-idle cam was engaged.

The reason the engine is idling so smoothly, however, is that I had it rotationally (rotating assembly) balanced, as well as weight-balanced, when it was rebuilt. It made a huge difference compared to what it had idled like before the rebuild. There was FAR less vibration afterwards.

If there ever was a thread that needed restoration from the woes of PB, it's this one.
