The VIN # on my Commando is 8705f1730867. Maybe I am wrong on the year- I have to dig up the title before I can say for sure what year it is supposed to be.

Just joined forum today. Just bought a 67 convertible to fix up. VIN# 8701 016 11660. DMV says I have to match up numbers on frame to get original title type in North Carolina. Anyone know where the ID # are stamped on the frame; can't seem to find it.

I'll poke around later and get the date of man.

The title was issued 6/19/85 in Nampa, ID but I believe before that it was in CA somewhere.

EDIT: Check out this site I found while looking up my Jeep info...Clicky!

It seems that the vin stickers are gone on this one, but here it is from the title:
    8705F1769245

Where's a good place to find some decoding info on these? Is the vin stamped in the frame as well? If so where?

    Title says it's a 71 :v6:

all I can tell you from the numbers I have is that it was built between May and August 1970 and that would make it a 1970 model year.

by the numbers we have so far, you look to have a late 69 built in the summer months. prolly titled 70 when sold. can you post a few pics of it?

it appears that the build date stickers began at the beginning of the 70 model year on sept first so yours probably never had one.
