Hey guys, Madeline needs a motor. I have always wanted to give her a dauntless and make it look like it was factory. Keep in mind she is far from original already. Any one done this to a 3b? I have the engine already, and posted an ad in the classifieds here. We took a rollover a few months a few months ago, thats another tale.

Not sure what you mean by "make it look like it was factory" since the 3B never came from the factory with anything but a F-134.

Don't have one now, but did it with a family friend years ago. Just used factory motor mounts on a cleaned up frame. The adaptor and rest lined up just like on a CJ5 for the tranny and tcase. Modified the drive lines a touch from the 4 to a 6 length, used stock exhaust parts (Y pipe to single in the rear). I don't remember what year the 5 was we scrounged parts from, but it was a body/frame mess we catabolized.

Couple years later we put the manual saginaw in and up graded the brakes to 11". I've not seen it in @ 20 years now.

Here's a v6 using factory motor mounts in my Dad's GPW. Looks like it belongs there. The battery is even in the stock location:

A conversion can be made to look like the factory may have done even though they didn't. This has been going on for probably 70 years.

Installing engines in all sorts of vehicles they didn't belong in has been going on with me for about 50 years. A neat installation is a neat installation, which I suppose is what he meant.

As I said, a what if kinda deal, Clean is the name of the game of course. I've done a number of engine swaps also over the years, as well as repowers in the industrial end of things. I have a bone stock 2A. Madeline is a wheeler, she was for from original when I bought her. We actually rolled 3x last winter, damage was only cosmetic for us both thank God. Thanks for the interest guys!

I'm not real good with this sort of thing (computers). However, I may try a build thread. There's not a lot of 3b stuff out there. Thanks again!
