I know. Its the way it ended up with the Rocky Road kit. I followed the instructions but put it all together without the engine or body on the frame. Been hoping the springs would settle in to a better angle. Others have had the same issue. I just need to take the time to move the spring mounts.

My front spring mount is a little different than yours. As you can see I have that extra bolt, that should be centered on the on spring mount.

May also, want to loosen these bolts and see if it centers itself.

The alignment shop didn't say anything about the front springs shackle angle?

The geometry of the springs and shackles makes small adjustments to the mount location amplified at the end of the shackles.

One inch at the mount was enough to move the shackles angle about 1.75”.

Been a while since I had any update on this Jeep.

Got distracted by this next project.

Then another project pushed that 3B to the back burner. '74 Super Beetle Convertible I bought as a project in parts and boxes.

Recently lost 3rd gear and with the help of Y'all I think we found a simple fix. The front bearing retainer was loose.

Don't have the transmission back in yet so fingers crossed.

While I was waiting for a new clutch fork I installed a winch.

Weather is been really nice here in N. Florida so I had been driving the CJ to work before the 3rd gear problem. Hopefully will again next week.

    Upgrade time!

This has been sitting on my shelf for months. I read the directions once and was a bit intimidated. (I’ve never even changed points on a car).

found the easiest way to get at the distributor hold down out was 29” of extension and a swivel socket.

distributor out and points out. Pentroniz in. It’s really pretty simple. Here’s everything...

All back together and test drive done. My V6 power is back.

Have another update coming this weekend - Front hoop for roll bar.
Couple weeks back I put Aussie Locker in Front Dana 30. No big issues I just had to read the instructions about 100 times.

put in new inner bearing seals while I was here...

    It did require new bearings....

    ....and buying a new tool.

Done in an afternoon (and an evening).

Another quick update before the rollbar.

I got the passenger seat way lower with a new front support. Made from 1” pipe I got at Lowe’s for $11

It’s just about 1” lower than driver seat and a bit more upright as well. Happy wife.....

Better, but my wife would still hate that they're not even (good work though!).

Front hoop add-on ordered from “extreme custom parts”. CJ roll bar, cj roll cage, cj5 roll bar,cj5 roll cage, jeep front add on cage,cj7 roll bar,cj7 roll cage,Willys roll bar, willys front add on cage, mb roll bar,m38 roll bar, cj8 roll bar I ordered the dash bar for an extra $50 or so as well.
The hoop arrived and all I did was unpack it. I’m a totally novice fabricator so bear with me. Getting good penetration welds is number one. Looking half decent is #2.

    Has all the funny bends.

The bars have the “U” cuts only on one end. I guess they think everyone will have to trim.

Long bike ride in morning so likely Sunday before I get into this. :waiting:

Got the 2part hoop welded and the feet on the main hoop. Tacked the dash bar and spreaders (outboard) together. Got to remove the whole thing to finish welding and paint.

How does the 2 part hoop go together? I'm assuming a tube inside the tube and some rosette welds in addition to the butt weld? I'm thinking about one of these kits in the future.

Yes, there’s a section of tube inside.

A friend stopped by last night and helped me pull the roll bar out. Really easy with a couple extra hands. I put a couple welds on the dash and spreader bars this morning. I'll roll it around and finish welding it up tonight.

Rainy weather coming for the weekend it seems. I've got 3 or 4 things I'd like to do to finish up before CO trip. (I've come to realize it will never be finished)
