Here is a better photo. The splice is just for the temp gauge. Looking from this angle it looks like it has been there a day or two.

It is a voltage regulator capacitor. So now which side of the coil would it be connected to? Don't guess I need it but it is there to balance the circuit.

 

Most likely the PO had a CB in the Jeep at one time. That is a static suppressor/condenser/capacitor (take your pick) and it connects to the positive side of the coil. They were also mounted in other places like generator and regulator etc etc.

Looks like a cable end bracket, but where does it go? My ebrake cable has a different type attaching it to trany cross member. Part measures 2" wide, 1 1/8" deep

It's probably easy one, but my brains not registering it.

My brother and I are doing the MD Juan tub kit build. Yestetday I found a rear seat on Craigslist for $25, advertised as a "CJ seat in good shape, but muddy from off road use". Since I can fix any upolstery issue, I figured I could take a chance for $25, so I bought it.

Sure enough, it needs new fabric, but the metal supports, padding and latches, etc, all look good. One bonus (?), it appears to have front pivots and the seat folds down, so it is a fold and tumble style.

It came without hardware. I have found online several examples of the front pivot attachment brackets which we can likely duplicate in an afternoon.
Here are the seat front pivot brackets.



And I'm guessing these are the appropriate pivot brackets (from ebay).



But I have not found any example of a rear bracket which would attach properly to the seat's single rear attachment "spool".



And here is the single spool screwed out of the rear underside if the seat.



I see other online examples that integrate a floor latch into the seat belt tie down, but nothing that would grab a spool like this one.

I need your help, please, in identifying the seat so I can track down how it uses that center bottom rear spool to b attach to the floor.

And nearly every fold-and-tumble seat uses "C" shaped side brackets mounted into the rear fender walls to capture pins sticking out the seat sides where it folds in half. I'm guessing this one could do the same.

Hi Jim. That looks like the fold and tumble seat. It started in the cj7 about 1985 and was used through the end of the yj in 1995. That looks like the right floor bracket. There are two mounts on the fenderwells (I have an extra pair of these - let me know). The bolt at the rear of the seat simply sits on the floor and should have a rubber bumper type cap - they always seem to be missing or worn halfway through and about to fall off. The seat I have now has for bolts - my memory of my brothers cj7 was three but I could be wrong. I would search along the back edge of the seat and see if you can find 2 or 3 holes and try threading a bolt in.

Thanks, Mike. I didn't think to look for two more "feet", that is a good idea. I'll have to look for some appropriate rubber for a foot! I'm glad it doesn't get another latching mechanism bolted to the floor. I like a smoother floor.

We are pretty handy in the bracket department and we don't really mind making them if we are confident in the dimensions. But I keep expanding the project; we never talked about a rear seat until it showed up with me today. So Joe might appreciate my finding these side brackets instead of our needing to make them.

 

CJ3A grill. What were these holes/brackets for?

 

wasn't there a thin plate that went across there forming a top to cover the radiator?

 

Good question… Holdover from MB. Unused in examples I've seen.

 

What was it on the MB?

Can't tell if this is as original-- Does it strengthen where the window frame sits on the hood blocks?
