 I am very familiar with T-14's and CJ5's and V6's but I can't for the life of me figure out what or where they use a front bearing cap. Got a picture of the location or maybe a better description?

I just need a part number, that or if they are interchangeable between CJ5's and commandos

    Bearing retainer?

Let me check the PN later today. I can't go back to the V6s, but I can look and see if the later part is an early number.

I'm guessing he means the front bearing Retainer Walt.
And yes, the V-6 Jeepster Commando and V-6 CJ front bearing retainer interchange.
The In-line 6 T-14 units are different and do not work in a V-6 application.

The 232/258 PN is 991055, which is a Kaiser era PN. But Nick says that part won't work. Maybe this PN originated when they put the 232 and T-14 in the Wagoneer.

I have one freshly covered in new paint... part numbers stamped into it I believe.

Will also look at my parts reference book tonight.

    Mine's off a '69 CJ5 and will be applicable to a v6.

Be aware I've seen some stamped T-86 but were for a T-14. The bolt pattern is different so do not go by that stamping.

My Jeep parts book lists part# 998596 for :v6: CJ T-14
It shows that same # for Jeepster with trans #s 948934 & 994847
    Jeepster with trans #s 947291 & 947461 is part# 991054

I don't know what the difference is on the 2 different Jeepster transmissions...

Well, I found a retainer (the listing I bought if from called it a bearing cap) with the part number 991054. Now I'm not certain it will fit...the Commando's input shaft for the T-14 was about the same length as the CJ's of about the same era, were they not? **Im only basing that off the fact/ experience that a lot of these jeep parts seem interchangeable**

^that's the same parts book I was referencing.
Does anyone know what the difference is in the 2 Jeepster transmissions?

I just received the part and the 991054 is correct! It looks exactly like what you have Dane. Thanks for the help gentlemen.

I don't know why there are different part numbers. The V-6 units I've been interchanging for 20 plus years and have always been directly interchangeable. Maybe a strength update or something. I'll have to see If I can access the different ones and see what if any differences there are.
