Just purchased a 1947 CJ2a and wonder what the two bolts are that come through the lower panel of the windshield. Looks like it would make a great place to attach a gun case. Also I have a round plate over the drivers side tail light? Notice that these are found on others as well.

Can you post a pic? Sounds like a vestige of the WW2 Jeeps. I suspect the plate on the rear would be where the trailer connector would go. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in.

I believe those were to hold clips for the top bows. Do a search on the 2A Page. Has to be a detailed description there.

As for the rear plate, that is likely a cover for the trailer plug present in the pre-2A militaries. Willys didn't change too much from the MB when they started building the 2A. The only big items were the steering set up, rear axle and transmission. Tub/body was pretty much unchanged except for the grill and the addition of a tailgate.

The bolts are for the clamps to hold part of the top bows. Ditto on checking the CJ2A page and look through the photos.
