So, I've got this 1972 D30 front axle to put in my '56 CJ5. All rebuilt and ready to hang, same with the original D44 rear. But I thought of something.....

Will I be able to use my original front driveshaft from my original D25? Or will cobbling be required?

Yep I am using a stock type 25/27 driveshaft mated to a Dana 30 and there is no cobbling or issues

Suh-WEET! Thanks guys! I just hadn't tried it yet because the d/shaft is still all greasy and slimy and stashed away in a box. I just thought I'd seen something about changing yokes or something.

That's for the factory V-6 Jeeps . They used a smaller diameter yoke and u-joint.

Ooooo-kay....whutchoo talkin' 'bout Willis? You sayin' the D30 yoke for a V6 is different than the D30 for a Hurricane? All I know is my D30 is a '72-'75 vintage, no idear what it was originally in, came from a parts donor. Complications...always complications....

The cj Dana 30 was not used on v-6 powered jeeps, the Dana 27 was and it had a different sized ujoint in the driveshaft. When you swap to a 30 then the yoke and u-joint do not match so the driveshaft must be changed/modified. Again, this is for a stock cj equipped with the dauntless v-6. If yours was a stock 4 cylinder then the yoke on the 30 will work with your driveshaft u joint size

Your good to go Ron - you have a stock 4cyl so the yokes are the same :)
