    Hello, new here. 1966 CJ5A Tux Park 225, T14a
Working on the clutch, it wont release. Installed new Disc and Pressure Plate, Centerforce. The nose of the Bearing Retainer is very close if not touching the the Disc Hub. The working disc got thrown away by accident. Are there different lengths of the Bearing Retainer (3 bolt mount) The Bearing Retainer is going through the diaphragm by about 2 inches.

Do you mean the front retainer on the transmission or the throwout bearing and carrier? Did you lube the inside of the throwout bearing carrier?

Hi, Front bearing retainer which the T/O Bearing slides back and forth on. The nose of the retainer is hitting the clutch disc

you're going to need to pull the transmission and measure the distances between each component. If the transmission, bell housing, flywheel and engine are the same, its the clutch assembly. Either the friction disk hub is different or its in backwards.

There's your problem. Holding the disc against the flywheel.

I had the issue of my clutch barely releasing. I could idle ahead but not accelerate at all. Was caused by too tall of a throwout bearing. When the clutch was released one end hit the bearing retainer on the front of the transmission, the other end pushed the clutch open.

I had a problem with a clutch years ago, It turned out to be a flat washer stuck under a finger on the clutch itself, I took it back out to find this problem..

I took measurements and reinstalled the transmission without the bell housing so I could see what the problems is. The nose of the bearing retainer is contacting the disc spline hub not allowing the disc to move, so the disc is held against the flywheel at all times. Am now looking for a disc that has no protrusion, only nees a small amount of clearance, 1/4 inch or so. I can grind the hub but not quite ready to do that. Could cut the bearing retainer but not ready to do that either.
