If it's a '70, then I believe it could be a Ren I or a Ren II. The paint and trim tag would be very telling, if you had one. There are also some details in the gauges and wiring that are specific to the Renegades, IIRC. There definitely was a blue like that for the Renegade package. But I don't have those details in my head. I would think you would have the vestiges of the Renegade package if it were a Renegade. We had a tech page about the Renegades back when this was earlyCJ5.com - it's still accessible via the WayBack IIRC. Maybe somebody has a link.

Look here - http://collectorcarpricetracker.com/auctions/detail/190359157867/ - the black oil and amp gauges in that location are quite distinctive. I think this is pretty much correct except for the seat color and fabric. If you have a tailgate, I think it would have to be a Ren I, like this.

the blue ren 1 with the snow plow is in my opinion an early 70 ren 1. note the gas tank under the seat fill up. definatly kiaser body later in the year the new law was no tank under seat & smog pumps we also the law. thanks in part to ralfe nadder. i,ve owned two ren 1,s both purple. i seen a pie chart for ren1 & purple was the most common color. the curved crome front bumper is on many ren1s also.i have seen two posters of 1970 kiaser jeeps that were not ren 1 s but had hood stripes with no number. spare tire on the passenger side.when Amc took over i,m sure they used up what they could thus many slight varriations..Tiger2

I checked my old paint books and your Jeep was likely the Renegade color for '70.
I have a Sierra Blue Tuxedo Park that is a very similar shade, but that color was only used from late '62 through '65, so yours is something else.
My paint books do show a Marlin Blue (both metallic and non-metallic) listed for '69 - '70, but I don't have a color chip for that one.

Thanks! Good to know! I had a suspicion based on the large steering wheel and dash pad. Unfortunately it had been painted. Maybe I will paint it back to a Ren 1 color instead of the dark charcoal color I was thinking about.

I know this thread has been around for a while but I was wondering if anyone knows the correct wheel color for a 1970 Ren. I. Would that be Glacier White, Champagne White, or other (like Frost White)????

Stock Jeep wheels were Champagne white if that helps.

Yes, thank you. The Glacier white does not seem to look right for the Ren. I - it looks a little too creamy in color. Looks like the Champagne white is whiter...

Does anyone have an original Goodyear Polyglas tire for a Renegade to determine if the size F70/15 or G70/15? Thanks again.

Thank you! It looks like one can still buy the Goodyear F70-15 with the white strip but I have yet to see a G70-15 for sale.

Wondering if the Renegade I came with two different tire sizes based on being early production or late...

This photo clearly shows this early Renegade with F70-15 Goodyear Polyglas w/s

Anyone else have an original spare tire to compare?
