Will 6-bolt bearing hubs from a Dana 30 w/Drum brakes fit up to one with Disc brakes?

I put 85' disk brakes on my 73' hubs. I had to machine the back side of the hubs so the disk would sit flat. I also used the lug studs from the 85'.

    What Scott said.
You need to use the wheel bearings and races that match the spindles you are using. The seal as well.

If you are going to use the disc brakes on the drum hubs, don't you have to have the back of the hub machined flat first?

I am in the middle of doing the same thing and wanted to clarify that I am reading this correctly. All 6 bolt hubs are the same, it's the bearing, races and seals that are different between drum and disc? Aside from the backside machining.

wondering what is getting machined here as when i looked at my disc brake set-up from a 78 it looks the same on the backside of the hub. if you machine the backside won't it run into the wheel studs?

The drum brake hubs have more material in the backside than the disc models. I would like to confirm, and think I did using the search feature, that I can use a 6 bolt disc hub with drum bearings to work with my drum spindles.

You can use disc bearing hubs with drum spindles and drum brakes by using the drum brake bearings, races, and seals. If you are using them with disc brakes you may need to shim the inner race or use a thicker inner race to line the rotor up with the caliper depending on what setup you are using.

Thanks Nick, that's the missing link that I have been, well missing.

When I did it. I used all my 73' parts, except I used the 85' rotor, caliper, and knuckle.

That's what I am doing as well. I just wanted to make sure could buy a 6 bolt disc hub and use it with drum bearings. I was easier to find one already machined rather than have the work done. Price was negligible in my area.

Well I thought about that. If you machine the hub. If needed. A new rotor will always fit the machined hub. And you will know what bearings and seals to get to fit your old hub.

Went through this conversion 6 years ago. I picked up a donor 82' Dana 30 with the 2 bolt caliper set up. I took the knuckles and calipers off of it and moved them to my 75' Dana 30 with the 6 bolt hubs. The only mods were machine down the back side of my 75' spindles, different brake hoses and remove the check valve from the axle out of my MC.
