Hey I have a pretty stock willys cj5 with the old 70hp 4 banger 5:38 gears and 30x9.5-15's. Iv been readin a lot on fozzy locking my front dana25. I was going to only weld in the side gears not spiders. I have not read any problems with fozzy lock style... I have read a lot on ppl SAYING its weak and the shock will blow it apart but nobody has actually said they had a problem and i have heard ppl saying just weld the carrier up to the spiders but I don't want to do that ..... Any input?

Do you have the stock steering setup? If you do then you will have a very difficult time turning the steering wheel.

Well I have the Ross box but the larger one out of a 6 banger....what will it do ? Pull it out of my hands? I hear ppl going on about bump steer in the woods but I never had an issue with mine... Is that what it'd b like?

No as in you can't turn the wheel at all. Yeah the V-6 ross still won't be enough. You need the differential to work. Even in a detroit the differential works, with a lincon locker( same thing) there is no differential it is basically a spool.

I was gunna toss a lock rite it but didn't wanna pay the $400 + ( I'm not cheap it's the mortgage!) ..... Since I'm only welding a few notches full on the side gears I was thinking it'd b enuff give, keep in mind it's only used in the woods I was reading on the Suzuki sites they all have their fronts welded like this

Some pretty sound advice has been posted for you to help you avoid this mistake, but it's your Jeep.

Yeah I am a bit scared of doing it I'm usually one of those "keep it stock guys" but I'm having a tuff time goin thru some rocky areas with this jeep crew I roll with they all have jacked up fully locked or welded rears and here I am bone stock 50yr old willys right behind them if I had the front locked it'd b boss

Why do you want it locked?
Mine is still the stock configuration without either diff locked and I have no problems in the woods or desert.
I don't believe in breaking my equipement, because I really don't have the money to fix it if I break something major like the axels or differentials.

You probably just summed it up for most of us here...

IMHO You''ll get more bang for your buck to improve the stronger rear axle as opposed to the weaker front axle.

Thes reason I was going to do the front was so when I am on the street the hubs are unlocked and not binding .... The reason I wasn't gunna do the rear was the hopping/chirping around corners on street and when my buddy welded his rear it wore the tires down 2x as fast, now my jeep prolly only weighs 1500-1800 lbs and most of that weight is in the front so tire wear wont b too bad . As I said 90% of this jeep is off road use the other 10% is driving to gas station and occasional running around too

Somebody here, or over to the cj2a or cj3b site did a poor man's locker that could be shifted in and out from the drivers seat.
Consists of a longer shaft on one side that could be slid all the way through into the other side to lock and when not needed to lock would clear that second side by a 1/4 inch or so.

I think that would be a better choice than welding your spider gears.

Or save up the $400 or so and get the right locker for your axle.

Or find the axles from a newer cj that already have lockers and install them.

I cannt seem to find it and I'm not exactly sure what you mean? How do you do make it lock/unlock from drivers seat?

Ok that's pretty cool but that would cost me more than an ARB set up if they even make one f
