Does anyone know of a good place to get a hold of Michelin trailer tires. I am looking to get a spare and at some point another set for my Canadian M101. They are Michelin L 6.50xR16 XCL. I guess it is a common military tire, Ive seen it in some huge sizes. thanks

Theres a guy in Montreal who has them on EBay quite often, same outfit that sells the trailers I think.

I looked for Michelin XCL 6.50 x 16 military tires when I was replacing my trailer tires in early 2005. Unfortunately (for me), the entire production of Michelin XCL military tires was apparently earmarked for the military and being shipped to Iraq. I was able to find some in the larger sizes, but none that fit my trailer. There were some used tires availble, but I wanted new.

I don't know if the availability of Michelin XCL tires has improved. If not, you can use generic military 6.50x16 NDCC tires which are available from a number of sources. That is what I have on my trailer and they work just fine.

I "googled" Michelin XCL military tires and found this company in Canada which sells surplus (used) tires. Couldn't find any new XCL tires for sale.

Thanks guys. The ones I have on there have great tread left, there is some small cracking in the sidewall but doesn't seem like dryrot, some tires just get like that. I have had fairly new Swampers that get some small cracks around where there was lettering and such but it never seemed to be an issue, just the way the tires are.

They don't have to be the XCL's but I would prefer. I'll try and find one....at least for now to have a matching spare. I need to find a spare tire mount as well to bolt on there.
