Both early, one of the left looks pre 1960(?) with that speedo.

I think the one on the left is actually 1955, not sure on the right one

Thanks for that, I did some searching and it lead me to this:

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/geepstir/4083293180/

    Sure looks the same.

I got these with some other stuff from the same seller over the past year. Much of it is turning out to be '55.

Anyone know if this was '55 only, or if it was used beyond that year?

There sure aren't many pictures of ECJ5 stock dash panel configurations out there on the 'net. Maybe there's something I haven't found yet. Or, maybe we need to start a picture thread here.

:)I would say 55 on the bottom with the older Speedo and the top one could be all the way to the late 60's..............If either are 4-sale send me a PM.:D

Thanks for the help, sounds like one is early and one is late.

Here are some other pics. The first is our '56 CJ6, the next is our '63 Tux Mk III. I know, speedo needles. I've got replacements for both for when I get around to it.

I am going to stick my neck out and say they moved the knobs from around the speedo to in a line on the left in '65. They was about the same time they started looking at production V6's and the larger grill turn signal lights

:)I've got a 65 CJ I bought new in late 66........ Ignition switch to the right of Speedo cluster head light switch above Ignition switch.........choke to the left of Speedo cluster and same height as light switch...........small turn & parking lights in grill. Still have it 27,000 original miles. It was rumored that there might have been some 65's with V-6's but I never seen one. :D

How did you end up with two unmolested dashes out of a CJ5? I though it was urban legend that they existed.

Partly luck and partly disease! I have a serious case of "craigslist". I check it at least once a day. The seller of these parts had collected them over 15 years ago for a project that never happened. I also got a very nice rolling chassis, (he'd cleaned & painted it, rebuilt brakes and bearings), engine, trans, and transfer from him, all 1955.

:)Jb.............I could but since I added guage holes and a Radio / speaker and a few other holes over the years...........it no longer looks like a stock dash. As I mentioned in the above quote it has the same basic layout as yours...........except I just went and looked again and it did also have a throttle cable hole so the stock layout was the SpeedO in the middle.........key switch lower right, throttle lower left, headlights upper right, and the choke upper left. The headlight switch hole is a ( double D style hole with flats at the top and bottom) while the throttle & choke holes were a single "D" shape with a single flat at the bottom. I was interested in yours to the extent that I wanted to re-arrange my guage package and was looking for a clean page to do so not a big deal as Double D fab builds a stock replacement dash panel and they will punch whatever holes and placements you want..........

Okay, thanks for adding that to the thread.

Here's a better picture of the layout of the one that has been identified as late 60's - early 70's.

:)Will I would have to disagree with that as the 1965 I have and the ones I have seen in that age bracket have the holes I talked about all grouped around the SpeedO , meaning in a square pattern the Ignition, head lights, choke & throttle just outside by a few inches the circumference of the speedO hole. I'll try to take a picture of that and post it later.
