Vapor Lock On F134

As the days get warmer in west Texas My carburetor seems to be starved for gas and I believe it is having vapor lock problems. New gas lines, rebuild carb and fuel pump on a a rebuilt F-134. During the cooler months it has had no problems. Has anyone had similar problems and what did you do to alleviate this. I understand heat makes the gas turn to a vapor keeping the fuel pump from getting gas to the carb. Is there any good insulation wrap for the fuel lines, since they are close to the exhaust pipe and manifold.

 

This was covered here quite recently in another thread. Very rare or unknown for F-heads to vapor lock without a secondary cause.

All "new" stuff is no guarantee, just the opposite, IMHO.

 

I have a Solex on my F 134 and I had some trouble long ago. Then I cleaned the carb (the pump inside was dirty, etc...) I changed the spark plugs and made some adjustments on the carb and the timing, nothing complex.
It was 3 years ago and since this time, winter or summer, all is perfect, that was a good surprise.

Can you post pictures of your engine compartment ?
Maybe someone will see something you don't.

 

Just thinking out loud... if it runs worse when warm, that seems likelier to be a rich condition than a lean one.

Carb float or other adjustment? Might be worth looking at the plugs, check their color.

When you say "starved for gas" what are the symptoms, and under what conditions? Idle, sudden acceleration, steady heavy load?

 

Any chance you're still running a tank of gas that you bought months ago? Gasoline is formulated differently for winter and summer...

 

I put a out board motor primer bulb in line. Made that initial fire issue go away on hot days.
