    There are 3 flavors to my knowledge: Early/little bore/little shaft, mid/little bore/big shaft, late/big bore/big shaft.

My 61, which has a mid, has a single stick. My 57, also a mid, has twin sticks.

well, shoot. I've got an all original from 1970, so any guess is a good one, without opening it up.

I definitely prefer the twin stick because they are easier to reach and provide for a more definitive feel. However, if you are running an overdrive, it does get a little "busy" with shifters concentrated within that small area and setting up a boot or boots to seal the all the shifters is not quite as simple as when you run just the overdrive to the right of the transmission shifter.

I would imagine a 70 would have a big bore big shaft. Don't know that it makes a difference putting a twin stick on.

This from Novak as I believe you have f134: If the jeep was originally an f134 then the D18 would be the mid generation with the smaller sized 3-5/32" bore but with the larger 1-1/4" intermediate shaft.

    Later Civilian, 1955-1971
In 1955 (this varies by a year or so on some models; no doubt while Willys-Overland was using up its remaining inventory) Jeeps received the Dana 18 with an 1-1/4" intermediate shaft. This improvement was not intended to increase the shear strength of the pin, but to increase the bearing area and the number of bearings. Free needle rollers, then, replaced the earlier and significantly fewer caged needle rollers. The locator bore continued to be the 3-5/32" diameter.

I believe the large case with 4" bore and 1-1/4" shaft was only found behind the V6 option from 1966-1971. Obviously most of my info comes from Novak here:
The Novak Guide to the Dana Spicer Model 18 Transfer Case

Of course, you know best how 'original' your jeep is... stuff gets changed over the years from the PO

I took a twin stick off of a 46 D18 small bore and put it on a 69 D18 large bore.

Small, medium, and big bore should only matter to you when installing the overdrive. The shifter mechanisms should be the same for all three.

I've been dealing with this exact problem...I've never really had a satisfactory shift boot for the OD until now.
I bought a 3 lever boot. Don't really like the look of it but I suppose I'll get used to it, and it does the job. 20170317_200608.jpg 20170317_195507.jpg

Pretty cool - I don't think I have ever seen a boot like that...

Don't think I ever saw a high low lever that short. OD shifter looks familiar though.
