I know the Tux Park rear license holder with chrome light is hard to find. Is the front one also hard to find. The front one in the picture was mounted on the chrome front bumper driver side. There was a square hole in the bumper with one of those chrome carriage bolts holding the plate holder.

The front bumper never had the chrome light, only the bracket that holds the license plate. And it does go in that extra hole on the bumper, on the drivers side, although I have seen the plate on the passenger side too.

The front plate holder does not have a lite,it is just a simple holder. The picture with the lite on it is the back lic plate holder. I guess I should of not included photos of the back holder.

My front plate bracket is only the lower section you show.....the "T" part that actually attaches to the bumper. I do not have the rectangular you show, that completely supports/reinforces the entire license plate.

As Wheelie posted, the rear light bracket should not have the rectangular plate backer. It should consist of the two hinged parts; the base and the light/plate holder. The thin slotted bracket is all the the plate is supposed to mount to. The chrome base of the light should have "KLH" and "62" cast in. The base mounts near the center of the tailgate by 4 screws. The upper two holes are through raised rectangular and mount flat, and the two lower screws have spacers to account for the distance of the raised panel.
The front bracket is a simple "tee" shape with a curved bracket to conform to the inner contour of the bumper, and a thin slotted horizonal plate mount, same as the rear bracket. Once again, the large rectangular plate backer in your picture is not original. Remove that plate backer, and what you have left is original.

Edit: I just looked at your photos again, and you are missing the base part of the hinge mount that attaches to the tailgate. It is formed to space the portion you have off the tailgate about 1 1/2" and uses a carriage bolt with a wingnut as the hinge pin. The carriage bolt runs through the small tube at the back side. I'm suprised that tube is still there as only friction is holding it in place.

You can turn the front bumper so the hole for the license plate holder can be on the drivers side or the passengers side. The one in my avatar is up side down to cover the damage from a snow plow being put on it by the personal plate.

The light dome has the KLH and SAE L 62 cast in it. I guess I need the mounting base. Thanks for the info.

I have been looking at dozens of rear lic plate holders on the web. a couple show the plate backer, most don't. Why do u say that is not part of the original piece? I can not find proof of what u say or the contrary. Too me, it could of been supplied originally, but would be the first part a owner would throw away, don't really need one.
    thanks.

My Tux was bought new by my father, and I have maintained it since around 1972. I know every part that it came with, and anything that has been modified from new. There never was a backing plate from the factory.
Also, I have all the factory parts books. The whole assembly with the chrome light is pt#958504.
The (inner) bracket that you are missing to attach to the tailgate is pt #664458.
There is no rectangular backer for the license plate in the parts books (Group 15-09F) that you have in your pictures. The part that you have with the slotted bracket for the plate is pt #664456. I could list every part number in this section if you like, but there is no backer for the plate in the parts book because it was not supplied from the factory, at least for the CJ5A/6A, or DJ5/6 which were the primary models to use this light assembly. Some of the license light components were also were used on the '48/'49 wagons, and the Dj3A, but not in the same form as the Tuxes.
    Is this proof enough?

Yes, that does it for me, I'm a believer. No doubt now. Thanks for the information.
Sometimes I just need to ask: "How do u know",
    nothing personal.

My friend Steve has a 64 Tux his Dad bought for a business for employees to chase parts and run errors in. One of the employees flipped it up on it's side, so he retired it with only a couple thousand miles on it. Steve had it repaired and put back all original and painted the original light blue, about four years ago it looks like a brand new Tux in his collection of neat cars.

Sorry Rick, but I got a chuckle out of what was surely an auto-correct. I know you meant errands, but it sounds like your friend's Tux ran into an error!
As it all turnerd out, that Tux could be a time-capsule for originality.
