    What a timely subject matter.

Brad: what tires do you have mounted in your photo and what was the lift height? Or is that a photo the way it was and not the way it is now?

My '68 has the same type of wheels, but has fender flares and 31"s currently and I wish to stay the same and not do anything radical to the looks. Good info here but the thread desperately needs to be spammed with photos showing what the different lift heights look like. I will do my part here in a few, if only to show what worn-out springs look like...

Well lets see ..... I wanted to get pic's facing the same direction But it's too cold so this is what I've got. Left side is before Right is after. I used 2.5" BDS springs. I originally had 10 leaf heavy duty springs, had them re-arched by Wheeling Spring in 99. By 2011 they had dropped. The BDS springs ride way better than the stiff stock springs.

I have the 2.5" rancho springs on my 5. In the out of box form, incredibly stiff and horrible shackle angle. I removed the second leaf from the bottom of each spring pack. This softened up the ride considerably and helped out with the shackle angles. After I put it all back together, it only lowered the jeep a half inch.

Bds are amazing. I have put on several sets of them. Almost any new springs need to be broke in. Find a very off camber trail and bounce them into shape. Just driving around town will not break them in. I have never seen any re-arched springs not sag back to where they were. Worn out springs are simply worn out.

This photo shows 47 year old factory stock springs. The tires are some Michelin 29" (I think) They came stock on my 2004 TJL. Had them lying around and put them on while I worked on the reliability of the CJ. Wheels are 15" white wagon wheel spokes from the early 70's installed by the PO. painted black.

When I replaced the stock springs on my 70 with skyjacker soft rides the difference was amazing. I would not hesitate to recommend the soft rides because they do.
