O.K. I am more than frustrated/confused now. I observed my points as the dist. shaft rotates. The points of course open on the lobes (3 of them). They also open on the peek in between the two flats that seperate the lobes. Is this right?

No that is not right. The points should open only three times per rotation (three lobes) as every time the points open, you will have a spark. The spark has to go somewhere in that cap. This sounds more and more like home made dist. As far as cap, if you can adjust the points with an allen wrench through the window in the cap, you should have the proper cap for that dist. You need to know the relationship of the lobe to finger on the rotor to the stud inside the cap for proper ign alignment. If you rotate the engine to tdc (compression) and observe the points at just beginning to open and the rotor is pointing Nr 1 on the dist cap (one over the door in cap) then you should have the lobe in the correct place. There should not be any other peaks between lobes.

My points are breaking 6 times in one rotation of the rotor? It goes some thing like this (points breaking) long break, short break, long break, short break, long break, short break. That is one revolution of the dist and two of the crank because I am back at #1 TDCC. I hate to be kicking a dead horse here but I just want to understand what is going on here and ultimatly figure out why it's not woking right.

That's an odd fire distributor. Put your pics on Photobucket or the like, then link them here.

Check your picture sizing when you upload to Photobucket. All I'm seeing there are thumbnail sized images.

That's the one I have. Looks like the only difference is the placement on the window. Maybe I have an issue with the dist. it's self?
