Headers should not interfere with the saginaw box itself....they "may" interfere with the steering shaft from the column to the box. Click on the webshots link in my sig, I have an album there with pictures of my saginaw swap. ;)

headers did not interfer with the ross box on mine. would have been an easier install to have had the saginaw. As to the OD: not a cheap upgrade (going to spend about $700 on a rebuilt, close to 850 for new).

I juat installed 2 new Advance Adapters on my Buick V-6 with my M38A1 and the headers cleared by Ross box with room to spare. However, they would be in the way of a steering shaft if a Saginaw was put out front. Unless you can install those little knuckle type u-joint things. Then it "might" work I guess. I don't know. Has anyone ever put powersteering or just a manual Saginaw steering on an old M38A1?

Dondo, I know what you mean. I too was clueless when I started 2.5 yrs ago. You'll learn alot from just hangin' around here and by tinkering with your rig.

Have an assistant turn the steering wheel back and forth a bunch of times as you peer down into the engine compartment and inspect the steering linkage for movement. You'll be able to pinpoint where the steering wheel movement doesn't engage a part of the linkage all the way to the wheels. Most any component has rebuild kits available to tighten up the steering. HTH!
