Keep in mind - this isn't radio being played. It's Bluetooth or RCA audio from my phone. There isn't an AM/FM tuner involved in this.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a resister type spark plug?

Energy from the plug wires can be picked up by & conducted over the 12 volt wirirng & get into things that way causing all sorts of issues to things other than radios.

Is it ok to run resistor type plugs and wires? Will I loose performance? This stuff is new to me if you can't tell.

    I wouldn't.

That being said the F4 is hardly a high performance engine, @ 7~ish to 1 compression ratio it doesn't take a whole lot of energy to breakdown the mixture between the electrodes & make a sparky (which becomes harder to do as compression ratio goes up- hence the need for hotter coils & use of copper plugs & cables in high performance engines).

What are the drawbacks of running them? Assuming that would fix my problem (which I don't know).

    On an F4?

    Nothing you'll ever notice.

Your cell phone or iPhone is also a radio. And will pick up those static emissions from the ignition system.

It's amazing to me how spark plugs and wires can make a difference. Glad it is all good now. :coffee::)

    I have a question.
    Why?
If you are going to the trouble of mounting and wiring in that amp, why not just add a stereo receiver to the mix?

Or do you really like running the battery down on your phone so that if you really need it, you cannot use it?

Dash space is my reason- I have an amp mounted up behind the dash with a plug hidden behind the lower edge that I can plug amp3 player or my phone or an old cd player or even a walkman or a transistor radio into. The speakers are up behind the dash as well- if you didn't hear it you'd never know it was there.

The problem also persisted when I used a direct connection via RCAs from various source types.

For me, I wanted everything to be hidden behind the dash to appear 100% stock with no radio. The last thing I wanted after I put so much work into a original restoration was to see speakers and a radio head unit. Side note - the Custom Autosound undercover II speakers are great for Jeeps and can be mounted under the seats totally hidden.

Also, my amplifier has a USB charger integrated - so I can put my phone in the glove box, charge it and listen to music at the same time.

I know we all have our bad moments, but don't you think this was kind of a rude question?

can you hear the radio as you are driving down the road? I spent some good money on marine grade kenwood deck, and speakers, and can only hear it when I'm stopped.

I can hear it just fine when driving you've got to turn it up some when . I actually really like the under seat set up. It's not so in your face like speakers in the dash.

Most packaged type stereos/speakers are 12-15 watts RMS. You really need to get up to 30-50 watts RMS per channel for a jeep. I'm not going to get into a discussion on how manufacturer's rate their power outputs but if they don't list output in watts RMS they're shysters.

In many cases they do list output in RMS & they're still shysters.

Rule of thumb- find the size of fuse they use, take 3/4 of that rating, multiply by 14.5 volts, & 50 to 75% of that number is what you'll actually hear. Divide by 2 (or 4) for each channel.

In this day and age you should be able to get a class D amp in this power range for a 100 bucks or so.

Nope. Smart Phone hater from way back. Firmly believe that the phone should be used for phone calls, not all your banking and email/browser needs. I MIGHT use the GPS maybe once a year. I don't do TEXT. The only other thing I use my phone for is an E-Reader. When I remember to unplug the charger and stick the thing into my backpack.
