The bellcrank on my 57 CJ5 is worn out. I have a NOS MOOG K173 rebuild kit but with the bronze bushing. I also have a spare bellcrank off a M38A1 with the frame bracket. The M38A1 frame bracket has a ledge that bellcrank seal rides on. Does the CJ5 bracket have the same ledge? I tested the bolt on bushing out on the M38A1 bracket and the slot on the new pivot bolt does not line up with the pinch bolt holes when the bushing is installed on the bolt. I have found a link that has talks about the rebuild kits with the bronze bushings but does not talk about the bracket.

    Interesting Bell crank -need help

I believe the Bellcranks themselves can differ.

In my book, ¾", 7/8" and also 1-⅛" shafts are listed, and the civilian is shown as the largest.

This one isn't it has the same 7/8 shaft as the one in the kit. I just don't know if M38A1s use the same bracket as CJ5s?

I have both vehicles ('57 CJ and M38A1) but it may take a day or two before I can look.

I had the same problem, three bell cranks, finally got one to work, I like the tapered bearing one that is offered now. I will get one when mine wears out.

Buy was there a lip for the seal to ride on like this one or is the bottom of the bracket smooth? I'm going to try and take mine off this afternoon.

Ok I got the bell crank off this afternoon and the bracket is not notched. It was a real pain in the rear trying to get the clamp loosened up enough to get the bolt out. I also noticed the bolt that came with the MOOG kit is notched for the clamp bolt is that a weak link?
