Does anyone have the Bestop lowback seat covers? I see them on the Bestop website, but there are no pictures anywhere. Before I drop $80, I'd like to know what they look like...

they didn't really cover up everything underneith them on mine. at the time it was a temporary fix until i got around to buying new seats; but it's a year later and i can still see spice/nutmeg underneith the black color.

as for the fabric, it's a cross between cloth and plastic. mine haven't faded since i bought them (again, a year out in the sun) nor have they stained from the oil and grease that have been smeared on them. they've done their job for what i bought them for, but i'm still plotting some new lowbacks down the road....

Thanks Chris. That was sorta what I was looking for - would they take the place of a set of real covers (like Boyink and Dan used).

You mention that you can still see spice/nutmeg through the black. Do you mean that the covers are somewhat transparent?

Joel - Pictures would be GREAT!!!! (By the way - I have the check for the steering wheel in front of me right now, it'll go into the mail box tomorrow.

I certainly don't want to sink $90 into a set of seat covers when I could spend a little more and get them recovered professionally.

Will do Billy. I wanted to get the same covers that Mike and Dan used, but I never got a response from the seller. Mike has a link to his email address, which I used. Unfortunately, he never sent anything back.

FWIW - I sent an email to Bestop today, requesting a picture of the covers. I find it odd that they sell something which they have no photo's of - not on their site, not in their catalog, not in the 4WD Hardware catalog...

Please let us know what you find out. Percival needs something while I find enough $$ to get the seats recovered.

I heard "Jeepster man" has covers too, FWIW-

Mine had the Best top covers on the seats when I got it several years ago. They have been rained on a lot and have endured the good ole Florida sun for years. They are pretty stout, slip over the whole back and bottom and secure with a type of bungee stap underneath. Very well made. Mine look exactly like the pictures in the catalog, but I can take some pictures tomorrow and try to upload them to the post if you still want them, just might need some help on getting them uploaded.

Heck - I'd settle for just a picture in the catalog, if I could find one. Got Link?

Those look to be the same material as the covers that Dan gave to me. Can't say anything on the fit on the lowbacks but the material is nice and repels water, etc fine. Only thing is that my back gets kinda sweaty on long rides because the material doesn't breathe very well.

I bought the exact same seat covers as shown in the pictures above. they are poorly made and need extra bungy cords to hold them in position where the look and feel right.
They do not fool anyone looking at them, they simply look like cheap seat covers such as you might find at your local flaps.
They are a cheap fix untill you can find something that works, kinda like the tops the same company offers.

Tim I have those seat covers in black and like 'em alot. They're easy to keep clean and look nice IMO. Scotchguard them and rain'll run off like water on a duck's back. Like Joel said, mine are also about 12 yrs old. Glad to cover the withered blue Levi-edition seats (Joel are those the seats you have too?). Two thumbs up on the covers. 8)

Wow. Seriously contrasting opinions... Not sure what I think of them. On the one hand, it sounds like the material itself is pretty nice - repels stains and water. But, I'm really particular, and I don't know if I would be happy with the fit. They just look a little loose-fitting.

    Thanks for the pictures Joel!!!!

I would save a little more money and get a set of new low backs. i did and love them, they were $210 for both. unless of coruse you have the seats that are integral to the seat frames. I know $80 is cheaper than $210 but then again you are only "covering" the old ratty seats, so they are still around, with the worn springs and such. If you can get that guy to ever email you back i would get those reupholstry kits like i got for the back seat, very good, and you lose the original ratty seats upholstry

    FWIW Timmy --

I ran into Del 66+68 here on the board, and he was able to also get a set of the upholstery kits. He had them installed by someone who knew what they were doing, and they looked outstanding.

Keep pestering the guy....you're gonna want that fold and tumble seat.

On my first Jeep I got some covers (many years ago) and they came with hog rings to attach the bottom cushion covers with. The rings worked well because you could get the material nice and snug and uniform and then you could hardly tell that they were covered and not original. This might be an option to get a better fit, rather than using the bungee cords.

I don't know what the re-upholstery job would cost, but I think I'd go that route instead. My seat covers were only about $50 IIRC and they were supposed to be a temporary thing until I had more cash -12 years ago.

Yep, mine were the same as Joel's. I have to agree that you can definitely tell they are covers, but they were on the Jeep when I got it and just have too many other things I need to spend the $$ on right now. Evnetually I'll get them re-covered, but they are fine for now. Don't know which way I would go if I had ratty seats that needed something right now.
