I'm trying to get a manual saginaw set up installed in my 2A w/225 V6 and can't find any photos of this manual installation. There is plenty of info on CJ5 conversion and saginaw power steering but not 2A as far as I've been able to find.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    I appreciate the help,
    Tommy

I'm doing a saginaw swap right now, it is possible to do without removing the front tube cross member. My box is out of an 80's CJ7, and I used the reinforcement plate as the mounting plate (need to weld it to my frame) box your frame, weld the mounting plate (IIRC Steve used one from a Jeepster Commando with Manual) and run your linkages, other than that, it's virtually no different than a CJ5, just watch your cross member...
For column I decided on a simple ididit tilt paintable chrome, I still need to order that as well

As Sammy said - no real differance with the 5 vs the 2 or 3. I have done it on both and can find pics of the manual on a 2/3 if you need them. The diff issues are the space you have to work with as the 5 has a little more room for the box than the flatties up front. Cross member, motor mount, and angle of the column are the things to watch.

    I appreciate the replies.
I'm kind of a visual guy so any pictures will be great.

My power in the '51 is the red pics that Clint linked to. Here are some manual ones in a 49 that I did years ago and am in the process of rebuilding.

i used a dj-5 column and a box from a 69nova. The ratio was a bit slow so i extended the pitman arm. i made up my own crossover lincage out of the old setup and a couple extras i had around . The arm is not extended in these pics. These are the best pics iv got

    Thanks for the photos.
It's good to see how people do the same thing differently and achieve the same results. These pictures have given me some ideas to work with.
    Thanks again,
    Tommy

Here is a picture of the intermediate shaft from a '74CJ that I'm trying to use but it seems to be about 51/2" toolong to fit in the 2A.
Can anyone tell me what is the best and safest way to shorten it.
Thanks to all for helping me with this project.

Can anyone tell me the best way to shorten the lower steering shaft in the previous post. I have a sleeve but the pin may be moveable ???
    Thanks,
    Tommy

I've never seen one of those before. What vehicle did the shaft come out of, and what was supposed to be connected to the "pin"?

This is the lower steering shaft (intermediate) from a '74 CJ5. The upper end has a splined U-joint and the lower end attaches to the spud shaft on a saginaw box. the pin is what goes in the greasable slip joint. I'm guessing that the pin is a press fit because I saw a repair kit offered on E-bay. I just don't want to tear it up trying to move it to shorten the shaft. I am hoping someone has some experience in this area becouse the shaft needs to be shortened about 5 1/2" to fit in my 2A. Thanks,
    Tommy

Looks like it would almost have to be a press-fit assembly. If that's the case a few minutes with a cutoff wheel and a drill press should take care of biznez. :)

I put it on the shop press and with a little pressuer it came out.
I suppose mow all I have to do is cut the shaft to length, drill and re-install.
    Thanks,
    Tommy
