With 5:38's and a 231 V6, my jeep isn't exactly geared for the freeway. The closest legal place to go off roading is an hour and a half away, and I don't have access to a trailer. What's the highest RPM the V6 can run at for long periods of time? At 60 mph, it would be at about 3400 RPM. Is that acceptable?

I plan to build a trailer or possibly find an overdrive in the some-what near future, but there are a few projects lined up ahead of that.

    Thanks.

Foster: I've got the same thing. At 55 I'm doing 3 grand. For only an hour & a half drive, why don't you flat tow it? :)

    shouldn't hurt a thing
been driving mine like that, 3200 RPM w/o'drive, for many, many years
obviously, less RPMs would mean less wear and tear, maybe better fuel economy
    got ear plugs?
    got good radio?

I'd flat tow it, but I have yet to find a tow bar for sale locally, and I'd have to build a bumper to mount it to. I'll call around some more, and if I find one, I'll get the bumper done before I leave and just tow it.

I'm just checking to see if driving it is an option. I don't really mind driving it that far, I just don't want to destroy anything.
