I decided to bite the bullet and put a stock cam and lifters in. Surprisingly it ran good in the condition you see in the pictures. I bet it's going to haul *** when I get the new cam in. The oil pump gears look like they are galling the surface of the pump cover. It had great oil pressure before pulling it out (20 @ idle) but wanted to know if it should be replaced bases on pictures. Also, do the oil pump gears need to go back in the same orientation? I marked them but it washed off and I'm not sure the orientation of the gear w/o the shaft on it.

I did some other tests and compression is good. Plugs look nice and tan. PO probably didn't put zink additive in with the oil changes.

    Thanks!
