Recognize this clutch M/C?

    I think I'd like to add a power brake solution to my Jeepster, but I also think I need to "resize" some neighboring pieces-parts.

    FWIW, the drive train is a mid-80's GM transplant w/ SM465, and I'm working on identifying the slave cylinder to get a bore dimension (as well as identify the bore of the M/C).

    Ultimately, from what I read, ANY universal M/C will work as long as I get the bore math right.

    I think you're right about the IH master cyl.
    I had an old Scout that looked just like that one.

    Waggs - Wilwood universal systems is what I use. It is best if the bore is the same, but you can get away with differences at times and if you want to change the behavior of a system (more movement at the slave, stronger pedal, etc). Wilwood has good info on their site on this stuff.

    I used one from Speedway...looks just like the Wilwood, but a few bucks cheaper.

    FWIW - I actually think Wilwood makes some of those for Speedway. I have some of both, and they do look identical from what I can see. I did have a Speedway slave die, where I've never had a Wilwood one die though.

    I'm remembering back, since you mentioned it, and I did replace my Speedway slave with a Willwood...

    Tarry, is there any adjustment on the rod in the master cylinder you show? I like the Speedway/Wilwood because I was able to put a union w/jam nuts on it and thread another short rod end into it to get me where I needed to be lengthwise.

    Waggs, I'm not in Tarry or Warloch's league when comes to giving advice but, obviously, you will need all the clearance you can get for a brake booster. The pot on the IH unit looks bigger than some of the aftermarket clutch MC resevoirs. Will you be using a smaller diameter, dual-chamber booster? My clutch slave is probably less than 1/4" away from my brake booster.

    YeahIDon'tKnow, I haven't looked that far ahead I suppose. I see Wrangler booster/master cylinder combos pop up on Craigslist frequently, ranging in price from a case of beer to $100. But, given that I have front disc brake, I figure a Wrangler donor unit should work.
