Probably A Stupid Question .

    I am rebuilding a used T90 transmission that I plan on putting in my Jeep . It came out of a '53 . It has an 18 tooth input shaft / main drive gear , 9 1/8 " OA length . I also see available a 16 tooth version . My question is can
    a 16 tooth be used in place of an 18 tooth , as I don't see a different countershaft /cluster gear for either ?
    And if so , what , if any affect does that have on gearing ? Thanks
