Here is a picture of my Dad and his 1947 CJ-2A. The license plate reads 1949. He was making payments of about $27.00 per month on it before he sold it when drafted by the Marines and sent to Korea. Dad and I still enjoy working on Jeeps. I think it is a cool picture my Mom just gave me. I need to re-scan it cleaner. Maybe it will help out some of you with your restoration. If anyone has any questions about it, I can ask him. Enjoy.

Let me know when you get it cleaned up, it would be a great addition to our vintage photo gallery!

    nice picture !
I'd be curious how the spare is mounted.
I suppose stock bracket bolted to the tailgate, but the tailgate won't work.

CJ-X, once you get it scanned in as high of a resolution as you can, send it to me. I make a living from photoshop. I'd enjoy cleaning it up for you.

What is the best way to clean a scanner, or does something else cause those black and white dots?

That is so cool, the pic itself and it's significance in your family, not just the Jeep. (Although the Jeep is cool, too!)

If those dots aren't on the original photo, it might be inside your scanner. Like under the glass your laying your pic on. Keep in mind that if your scanning it larger like at 200% of course your trash is going to be 200% more obvious as well.

Clean your scanner with windex or something similar and a clean soft cloth. Never use paper products on your glasses or scanner glass if you can help it, and thread bare cotton doesn't help either when it comes to making small scratches.

It was yellow:). And it was bought new by the Decca Record Company in Cincinnati. They put the fancy top on it, painted the company name on it, and I guess used it as a sort of promotional company vehicle. My Dad immediately painted over the Decca logos after he purchased it.

Decca in the 40's? Wonder if any of their folks ever rode in it?

It was re-located. Side mounted spare tires tend to find trees!

Mie has been moved to the tailgate and I can still lower the gate down(I don't because it has been zip tied shut to prevent rattlingR))
