I'm taking apart my F Head (due to all sorts of misfortune) and I've decided to paint the oil filter. I'm using an engine enamel via rattle can, and trying to make it the original style orange. Anyone else do this? And the orange is so ugly... but I know that's what they used. It doesn't even come close to matching the rest of my CJ.

They used orange? I thought it was black?

Uh oh, I might be wrong! I've always seen orange... when I bought the thing, it was crappy grey metal, with a lot of oil staining.

I might be wrong too! I only know the V6, and those are all black air cleaners.

Oh! It's an oil filter not air filter. My oil-bath air-filter is black too. ;)

    I know that's what you're talking about. ;)

I'm just saying that's pretty much the extent of my engine bay paint color knowledge.

Same filter housing as on my previous antique truck. GM orange to match Fram's color with a black top. Reproduction decals are available for it as well

Ahhh, thank you! I completely spaced out on the black top. I will change it.
