I purchased a rolair gas powered pancake air compressor to replace my worn out Subaru 4 stroke unit. The Subaru has been a dependable unit but it’s starting to wear out and has become unreliable. Specifically with the Subaru I end up going through a pull starter about every 6 months and it’s having a lot of blow by and thus not able to get a good amount of pressure or vacuum without laboring. Keeping in mind I use it daily and all day long, it’s probably got several thousand hours on it.

So far the rolair has been a good upgrade it builds pressure fast and pulls a much stronger vacuum. My oil vac system just extends the compressor air intake to include pulling air in through the tank thus creating a vacuum. There is a ball valve to switch between vacuum and pressure. The only caveat I have is it won’t start with air in the tank. Aside from the engine the whole unit appears to be made in Wisconsin so that’s cool.

One thing I do like is I can run the tank up to 120 psi and then use that tank to refill my oil tanks pressure by just opening a valve. On the old unit I had to run the compressor to get pressure as it’s tank was the frame and very small.

I have a couple Rolair compressors I've been running for years... they won't die!
