Good evening. I got the 2A dusted off and ready for spring a few days ago. Part of that was checking the clutch cables for slack. I found the one from the pedal to the cross shaft had a good bit of slack so I started tightening the thread into the clevis. After a few turns the cable snapped clean off about an inch from where the crimp starts. I had my swaging tool handy so I was able to patch it with new cable but I don't trust it to last. I can make the cable and crimp it but I'm not sure what the piece with the threaded rod is called so I can find a replacement. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Interesting, from your picture it looks more like a set up from an early '70,s CJ5 or Commando. The 2A's never used a cable set up like that, If I'm seeing it right.
Kudos to you for having the crimping tool. I've had a use for one of those once in a while.
Nope, now that i've thought about it, a Commando would have had suspended pedals but they had a cable system from the factory so what I think you have is a CJ5 conversion.

Need to see more of the cable..
Is the end a threaded ball end?
Is it a threaded clevis fork?
Stock 4 cylinder clutch cable with threaded rod on one end?

Will try to get a better picture tomorrow. It's all custom work by the PO. The pedal assembly is out of a Subaru. The end at the pedal is just the cable coming through the pedal with 2 crimps to keep it from pulling out. That end doesn't matter for me though. I just need to know what the threaded rod piece with a crimp is that is crewed into the clevis. I may have found it though. It's called a threaded stud?

    looks just like it.

EDIT: it is screwed into a threaded clevis fork.

If you use a clevis at each end, you can make a clutch rod from 5/16" drill rod threaded to match the clevis threads. Mine are 5'16" standard thread.
