I basically need to replace EVERY part associated with the clutch and brake pedal linkage/assemblies... I have found a decent diagram for the clutch setup, and a nice OMIX-ADA "bellcrank kit" that appears to include everything except the clutch pedal and the clutch return spring. The brake assembly, however, is not so clear. Every diagram I can find seems to be for the later CJ's with hanging pedals, which obviously won't match up too well. Anyone got a diagram with part numbers/descriptions for the brake assembly? I know I need the cross tube that holds the pedals, the bracket that holds said tube, and any/all associated springs/washers/felt/etc. etc. that are involved. Thanks in advance!!

Jim, great pic. This happened to by my "today" project. Problem is that I'm getting bummer-esque binding with the clutch rod-cam (5.160-2) and the MC pushrod (8.156-2). Not much, but enough that pushing the clutch pedal sometimes simultaneously pushes the brake because the MC pushrod notch sticker-outer on the brake pedal contacts the clutch cam.
Any tips? Anyone else deal with this?

also, shouldn't there be a large washer and a small tapered spring somewhere between the pedal pad and the next joint in the pic? (like where 8.172 is)

mine has the washer, unsure about the spring. sounds like the shaft and/or pedals are worn (most likely lack of grease).

Hippo - check the angle and slack in the rod going into 5.160-2 - you may need to measure the distance of the 'ear' on the 5.160-2 shaft. I had one that was 1/8" closer on the brake side that caused the binding your talking about.

A little blue flame work in a vice tweeked it over until I found one that had a 'better' distance there.

    Hippo,
I had the same problem - when pusing the clutch the brake pedal would move. Nothing worn excessively, just too tight from old hard grease. I removed the grease fittings dug out what I could and then used PB Blaster and compressed air to force it through all the mating parts. Worked it until it freed up and then installed the fittings and lubed with correct grease. Works fine.
