When putting the water pump on a bolt snapped when I torqued it to spec, so much for the torque wrench being accurate.

I contacted por-15 and asked about the etch primer on the motor and of course they said it is not recommended for engines. I reminded him the description on their site says for high heat applications, no answer to that so I'm getting some brake clean and I'm going to take it off. It runs right off when i spray it

Brakleen is bad stuff though. Glad you got an eccentric. Been thinking about pulling apart one of my spares to see if it was any good for you.

Sorry to hear about your breaking a bolt. Some of those up around thr water pump csn get s bit weak. I'm an old fuddy and still prefer the old style beam type torque wrenches. I'm not saying a clicky type wrench is bad but most people don't know how to store them correctly and they don't work as well afterwards...

You have that Dauntless looking good! I had the housing break on both Commandos when I changed water pumps, thankfully Ultra Grey Permatex has sealed it from having any leaking issues on both.....

I never found manifold paint that lasted so I'm trying this Calyx manifold dressing this time. Nice stuff

I would like to try that Calyx dressing as well, let us know how it is when you get some heat on those manifolds. Doing a very fine job. Love it.

Got some fun stuff today, if my wifes a secret member here I'm doomed

Today's achievements, new points, rotor (cap was wrong. Had to return) spark plugs, wires, fuel pump, coil and vacuum port

Waited 3 yrs to put the dauntless decals on and the wires hide them, :-0

Plasti dip on the wire holders

Apparently a new oil pressure sensor for the 225 isn't made in the proper size so you have to use a bushing

A little laquer thinner and some armor all cleans up this old hose and ground strap

This gave me a headache after about 10 minutes. It would help if the fsm had the wiring diagram color coded

Found this in a search, not sure how accurate it is

Looks good. The unknown bracket is for a support for the end of the starter, If your starter has the place for it.

Well it's not really for the end (the end uses a diff brkt). This bkt bolts onto the barrel about midway. Some re-man's don't put the correct barrel on a rebuilt so your starter may not have the threaded hole. If it does go ahead and use it. Sure looking good. Oh and that diagram is correct for your wiring loom. Not real sure about all the colors but the dwg is correct.

I didn't mean to indicate that it attached to the brush holder. And, your'e right, most remans won't have the threaded hole for that brace. I have been rebuildinding all of my junk for years, I have spares.
