manual steering parts

hi all. i have a 69 jeepster with ross steering. front end guy says i need a steering box with all the gears inside and a connecting rod. jc whitney has nothing, turner4wd has nothing. i found those names searching old posts. does anyone sell rebuilt steering boxes?or know where i can find a new one. thanks

 

The best you're going to get is to post a wanted ad here or over at the Jeepster Commando club for a good used one. You might get lucky and someone has an NOS one stashed away. The Ross box used on Jeepster are specific to Jeepster only and I highly doubt anyone could even rebuild it but that may be an option you'd want to look into. The steering link from the box to the front has replaceable seats which may cross with another Jeep model. Easy enough to find out for you if you decided to keep the Ross. Most ditch it in favor of the Saginaw which mounts ahead of the axle, either power or standard. The conversion to Saginaw however is not a bolt on kit kind of thing, it will take some fabrication.

 

There is a place that will rebuild yours, but I can't remember their website. I'll google and see if I can find it again. I ran across them a couple months ago when I was looking for parts.

 

You do know a Jeepster Ross box is no where near the same as a CJ Ross box or any other Jeep Ross box?
