Will it ever end? Is there no cure?

Went over the mountain yesterday to haul home the rest of the 1967 CJ5 I bought. On the way there my friend who was with me mentioned another early CJ5 that was sitting in the back lot of his son-in-laws off road shop that was probably for sale.

After we unloaded the CJ5 at my place we loaded my CJ2A on the trailer to take it to the shop for some welding on the new spring hangers, and I looked at that Jeep. It looks like a early to mid sixties standard CJ5, with the F134 and a PTO winch. The body on this one is very straight and solid, no rust through anywhere, and even the hat channels are sound. I have never seen one from this part of the country with a body this solid.

This Jeep would be an easy restoration project. The story on it is it sat in a storage barn for 40 years, and it looks it to me. The paint is a little dull, but otherwise it is in great condition body and frame wise.

I called the owner and he had decided not to invest the money in it for engine repairs it needs, and offered it to me for a low price. I am not a bit worried about the engine, as I already have one very good Buick 3.8L and another Buick 225 even fire ready to build. Just need another set of engine stands, an adapter for the transmission, and a long input shaft.

I can't pass this one up, so guess where I am going tomorrow.

I already have 3 Jeeps, so what is one more?

Good to be plenty of energy!
I must say that I am in my 2nd phase of retirement... quite nice, I just look at others working, to turn the key is enough, and drive. Permanent holydays. ;)

From the Press : "Speaking on the dangers of that variant, Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, warned CNN on Friday, "that CJ 5 virus is about to take off in the United States.""

If I had room I'd have a half dozen. I just have room for one though, thankfully.

I'm up to 13. I definitely have the acquisition syndrome. Affliction isn't the word for what I've got.

I will take some pictures once I get it home. Real excited about this one. The other CJ5 I have has a very nice frame but the body is a lot worse than I first thought it was, probably have to get another tub for that one. This one is better than any I have looked at since the 70s. Wife just rolled her eyes when I told her I was bringing another one home, so I explained that since I have 2 flat fender Jeeps I really need 2 CJ5 Jeeps so we can have a his and her pair of both. She rolled her eyes at that too. My dad once said that by the time he understood women he had forgotten why he wanted to in the first place.

Then you NEED an intermediate with V8's.... and then later CJ7's.... and then who doesn't NEED a scrambler????

I started out NEEDING one for off road one to plow my driveway and one to cruise the beach...... Then it was, but honey this one is nicer than that one, but I can't get rid of that one because it has this or that. LOL Now I just need a bigger driveway and a 6 bay garage.

My plan is to sell the '73 when I get the '74 together.
    But then I think, why?

Now I'm thinking I'd like one with a snow plow.

I've already tried talking my neighbor out of his '56 CJ5. I may have him put me in his will.

When you get the CJ5 virus, there is NO RETURN.
May I suggest a nice small song, let me apologize if it is quite old, already...

I would love to have another CJ 5 all Original rust free to play with, still have a lot of parts left over at Joe's farm. Jeeps are more fun than old Tractors, you can drive them to Town. Good Luck, Andrew.

Never wanted the long hood Intermediate CJ5, or a CJ7 but I do wish nobody had mentioned a Scrambler!

I went down this morning to give that ECJ5 a closer inspection. I crawled under it and I have never seen one of this vintage as rust free as this one in this part of the country. All the hat channels and floors are just about perfect, and under the hood everything is in it's place with no sign anywhere of Bubba at work. As said above it is a standard Jeep, but has the PTO Ramsey winch and a factory heater. Even the seats are in good shape. I forgot to take my phone with me so no pictures yet, but if I end up buying it, which I intend to do, I will be sure to get some when I get it home.
