What is that 1/4" cable that is stretched from the bell housing to the frame with an adjustment nut? Only thing I can figure is some kind of torque limiter.

    "engine stay cable"
some folks call it the "engine stay put" cable
it also helps eliminate clutch chatter in reverse
    shh,don't tell anyone, our secret

There has been many discussions about clutch chatter in reverse with the v6..... And many times I have posted that this cable was the cure, and I have had many responses saying that it was for something else........

    I'll back you up Patrick
I don't really understand the reverse issue, this cable being the cure for it.
I'll have to dig out some old manuals
think there was even a service bulletin about the issue

All this time I was afraid to unleash that L head thinking it would go through the radiator if I got hard on the brakes one day. :D

    Thanks,

Since it was on CJs long before they put the V6 in there the whole issue is kinda murky. ;) :hurrican:
