Well last night i tried to seal up the cluster shaft surface on the front of the Tranny. I pulled thebellhousing and cleanedthe heck out fo the surface with brake cleaner, so it was nice and dry and not greasy. I added the RTV, and botled the bellhousing back on and crossed my fingers. Well I went to look at it this morning and there is a small puddle of oil under the tranny. So I need to try it again. I know RTV will not stick when it is oily, but i was hoping the RTV would dry before the oil could leak, but i am wrong. So I need something to prevent the oil from coming out, then RTV it to fully seal it if i can. Taking apart the tranny is not an option. If worse comes to worse i will live with it :(

So what did you guys do again??

I am confused about your description. Where is the oil coming from? Tranny oil? If so there are only 2 places. It could be the hole that the counter shft sits in. If it is the main shaft, then there is a seal that you can change. It is in the bearing retainer, simple to change.
I am guessing that you are fidling with the countershaft hole. Tranny is full of oil.
Drain the trans. your brake cleaner is a great start. Next you use something other than elephant snot. AKA blue glue. Go for a tube of Right Stuff! works about the same as slicone, and can be torqued to spec while wet. Finger painting 101 to apply the stuff.
    Good luck! -Hill

If your getting puddles leaking out around the countershaft after it sits for a day, you have bigger problems than oil on the floor. It may be common to get a little drip from that area but a big leak indicates to me that the shaft has play in the hole. If so, no amount of permatex is going to help. I'd remove the belhousing and see if you can stick a wire guage between the shaft and case to see what the gap is.

If you are using RTV or something similar to be used as a gasket, then the proper way to keep leasks from showing up, is to squeeze out the material onto the surface and then wait about 10 minutes for it to crust over a little bit. Then assemble. That way the sealer doesn't all squeeze out when things get tightened down. I learned this from an old mechanic and it works amazingly. Most people (like myself) will goop it up, then slap it together.

It isnt a whole puddle probably about good 6 drops, looks like more, but the floor is sealed so the oil will puddle. It is defiantely the countershaft hole. It doesnt look like much play at all. I was thinking maybe a little JB weld, to seal it then some silicone. I did the JBweld to the caps in my T90 tranny cover when the caps would leak. Actually sealed up nice. And the JBweld can be removed.

i had the same problem and just cleaned the surface and the bellhousing, put a ton of rtv where the countershaft would be and dared it to leak as i bolted the bellhousing to the tranny. so far it looks like that worked, but i'm leaking from somewhere else now... shoulda figured something else would show up. this way that shaft is still free to rotate if it wants to without my only means of sealing it going down the drain.

make a paper gasket, and use sillycone to hold it in place during assembly.
