Well I goofed up tonight....thought this was a bushing that was pressed in but apparently its cast into the body and has a bronze coating on the inside :( I could find no replaceable bearings or bushing in the unit so I'm not sure what was causing the resonance. I could turn the shaft and feel a vibration at one point so I know something was causing it.

Is it possible to buy just the distributor body itself or do I need to pull another from the junkyard? I have all the other parts to make a complete unit.

A trip to the junk yard????!!!!!! Can I go too? It's like a trip to the candy store for me. I explore them all over again every time I end up at one. The guys who run em are usualy great , but occasionaly there is a jerk, who is done knowin ya after you hand him the bills!! Not too smart a businessman I say!!!

For what ir's worth I have replaced an ailing HEI in my CJ for a little over a 100 bucks through auto parts store. Might consider that and get it all right.

Yeah I agree with Dave, I bought my HEI from Advanced Auto for $125 and saved a headache. I also bought an extra module and coil. That doesn't guarantee it'll work 100% but its a lot closer than a junkyard piece. Maybe not. I never pulled an HEI from a boneyard so maybe they're just fine.
