I know it's here somewhere, but was unable to find it...

My head gasket has a small pinhole for the water passage. Is it recommended to keep this or should I make it larger to open up the passage from the block to the head? I was meaning to ask before and forgot... if it's not really important I want to leave my running motor alone. If, however, it is customary to enlarge the hole I would rather go back and do it before the inevitable happens.

Do you have the right gasket for your engine?
My understanding is that all passeges should be open with no restrictions.

Chris, What engine are we talking about? If it is the L-134 flat head engine, If I Recall Correctly (IIRC) the water does not circulate through the head, so no need to enlarge a water passage that goes nowhere. I could be wrong so be sure to double check with someone who has rebuilt one of these recently, not over 20 years ago like me. Matt W.
