I just picked up a 1971 CJ5 with a folding rear seat that appears to be original. I never knew they existed for the earlies. Has anyone seen one before or have experience with them?

BTW, I don't have any pictures yet.

    Thanks!!!

mine is an aftermarket one that 'fits' 76-95 CJ/YJ.

always possible that it was installed later.

I have one that came in a '66 Tux. Unlike others I've seen it does fold, but uses a separate mounting bracket. The early ones I've seen (non-folding) had a tubular frame with "feet" on them with a pin lock on one end. My rear seat is a match to the front passenger seat (also a folding one) that came with the Jeep so I assume its an original. I haven't been able to find a used bracket for it, I guess I'll have to make one unless I turn one up. That, and I'll have to anchor the belts somehow.

Is it what they call "flip and tumble?"

I'll have to post some pics when I bring the Jeep home. It really looks like it could be original but who knows...
