For my buddies 71 project, he wants to go swinging pedals.
I was offered a set of FC170 swinging pedals. I know the master cylinder would need to be reversed and moved to outside of the firewall.
I was also offered a set of 1964 J200 pedals. These have a separate bracket for the clutch and brake pedal. They definitely look shorter than a set of cj7 type pedals.
I have read that intermediate cj5 pedals are supposed to be almost a bolt in, but I have never seen a set in person so I cannot compare them to the above offerings.

Changing master cylinder bolt spacing and plunger length is not a big deal.

So have any of you guys explored the 170 or j200 pedal options?

The reason the intermediates work best is because you have no strength from the dash in a 5 like you do in a flatty. Tying the firewall to the dash helps eliminate the flex. Plus you simply use stock Jeep parts and everything bolts right up.

I am planning to tie the firewall to the dash with the pedal mount, tie the steering column to the pedal mount and dash, then the lower portion of the column to the floor.
We will also be filling and reinforcing the firewall with a plate that encompasses the old heater hole, brake master and clutch master area.
Daryl, Do you have a set of intermediate pedals available?

I used a set from a wrangler. It had provision for hydraulic clutch master. The cj7 ones are similar. My application was a bit different than yours. I liked my ability to just bolt on the wrangler booster/master assembly.

    Daryl,
It hadn't dawned on me until yesterday...:(
It would have been easy to have Mac pick them up. I do have a fed ex account and UPS account. :)
